The Third Annual Bay Area College Football Kickoff Luncheon will be held Monday, August 2, 2010.
Sponsored by Borel Private Bank & Trust Company, this year's festivities once again take place at the Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason Street in The City's Union Square area.
The luncheon is presented by the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the Bay Area's annual college football bowl game. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl is Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. [PST]. Teams from the Pacific-10 and Western Athletic Conferences compete in the nationally-televised ESPN encounter.
KNBR morning show host Brian Murphy will be master of ceremonies in a 12 noon program that features head coaches Jim Harbaugh of Stanford; Jeff Tedford of California; and newly-hired Mike MacIntyre of San Jose State. Each will offer a preview of his team's upcoming season, which begins Labor Day weekend.
Karl Benson, Western Athletic Conference commissioner; and Kevin Weiberg, deputy commissioner of the Pacific-10 Conference, will provide previews of their respective conference races and key matchups.
Stephen Chriss, Senior Director, Corporate Scale & Marketing Partnerships at Kraft Foods North America, will highlight Kraft's initial plans for its new title sponsorship of the game.
Also included are interviews with players from each of the teams; plus a special multimedia presentation that offers each school's featured players as well as a video look at the upcoming inaugural Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
Luncheon tickets, priced at $65, are available through the Bowl website.
The three Bay Area teams open the regular season on Saturday, September 4.
Cal and Stanford are each at home that afternoon; the Bears host UC Davis at Memorial Stadium and Stanford meets Sacramento State. San Jose State plays an intersectional contest against nationally-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.
